FAQ

What distinguishes Treasurebee from other marketplaces?

Treasurebee is for sellers who want to actively sell (actively means these sellers are available for customers by live video in a commercial context).  It’s also for sellers from marketplaces typically underrepresented online (ex: estate sellers, pawn shops, swap meet sellers, garage sales, collectable shows).

Treasurebee is a marketplace about people, places and things: unlike other marketplaces that focus only on “things.”  On our home page, you’ll see our categories describe the types of sellers who are actively appearing on Treasurebee, and the live sales venues they represent like garage sales, estate sales, specialty retail stores, eclectic sellers and more.

How does Treasurebee earn money?

Our intention is to be transparent with our members regarding pricing policies. Treasurebee’s monthly membership fee and minimal processing fee subsidize our costs in providing video to all registered members, and for marketing to provide our members visibility.  We believe this formula is of great value to sellers of all types, as they will pay less than they would to use a typical marketplace, auction or estate company.*

Where does the name Treasurebee come from?

The “bee” in Treasurebee is a reference to Normabee Farm, where our founder’s great grandparents bought, sold and collected strange and unusual antiques, oddities and other treasures.  In fact, they presented at the National Antique Show at Madison Square Garden in March 1946, and won awards.  Their great grandmother ran their booth at that show, while their grandmother helped out.  Today we’re continuing the tradition at Treasurebee.

How do I know my transactions and information are secure on Treasurebee?

Building your trust and providing a safe environment to operate in are very important to us.  We have implemented a number of steps so that all of our members feel comfortable and remain safe when buying and selling on Treasurebee:

  • Data security – Treasurebee has implemented an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Certificate, which is the standard security technology for establishing and encrypting data between a browser and a web server;
  • User privacy – We respect your privacy and allow all Treasurebee users to withhold personally identifiable information from public view.  The only required fields in a users Profile are their Display Name (which could be their real name, their business name, or a DBA (Doing business as)), City and State; and About You for sellers.  While other information that users may provide would add to the value and experience of the Treasurebee community (such as their business address, FAQs, etc.), we’ve made it optional for each user to share that information on their Profile page.  If you’d like additional information please read our Privacy Policy;
  • A valid credit card is required for all members – This helps to ensure that all buyers and sellers are legitimate and have a genuine interest in conducting business with each other utilizing the video call feature.  It also helps keep spammers and time-wasters from spoiling the Treasurebee experience for other members;
  • Secured payments by Stripe® – Stripe® is a leading payment platform that makes it easy and safe to process transactions between buyers and sellers online.  To learn more about their security policies please visit Stripe®;
  • Agreement to Treasurebee’s Terms of Service is required of all users – Our Terms of Service details our expectations for buyer and seller conduct on Treasurebee, and includes the types of inventory that are prohibited for sale.  We expect all Treasurebee members to adhere to our Terms of Service, as failure to adhere to our terms of service may result in cancellation of membership;
  • User reviews – Buyers and sellers have the option to provide reviews of their transaction experience with each other.  User reviews are an effective way for the Treasurebee community to validate other members;
  • Reporting of users – Members who abuse Treasurebee’s Terms of Service can be reported to Treasurebee.  The “Report User” link can be found on each user’s Profile page.

Can I buy and sell on Treasurebee if I am not in the United States?

It depends.  Buyers can make purchases from almost any location.  Sellers must be located in one of the countries supported by our payment provider Stripe®.  Please visit Stripe® to learn more about international payment processing.

Can I buy and sell without the use of Treasurebee’s payment processor?

We highly recommend you use Treasurebee’s payment processor; it is the quickest and safest way to complete a transaction.  However, we encourage members to meet directly if it benefits them both.  Whatever terms a buyer and seller negotiate with each other is between buyer and seller.

IMPORTANT: Please be advised that if using another online payment service (such as PayPal®), Treasurebee cannot process your transaction, keep a record of it for future reference, process a refund or process a chargeback should one be required.

What are the shipping options on Treasurebee?

At Treasurebee we recognize that shipping details are sometimes an important point of discussion between buyers and sellers before a transaction is completed.  We have therefore allowed for three different shipping options.  When negotiating and completing a transaction in a video call or message, your shipping options are:

  • Included in the price of the item – If the item price is $100 and shipping is included, this means the buyer pays $100 with no additional costs or fees;
  • To be determined later – If the item price is $100 with shipping to be determined later (because, for example, the item is of a unique size), this means the buyer can purchase the item now for $100, and then wait for the seller to communicate the shipping cost and method later (ex: USPS is $25).  In this example the buyer would pay the $25 for shipping as a second transaction;
  • Pick up only – If the item price is $100 with pick up only, this means the buyer pays $100 for the item, and they will pick up the item at a place and time that is agreed upon with the seller.

For items that are purchased immediately via Buy Now, shipping can be included in the purchase price.  However, some items may require communication between buyer and seller to mutually agree upon shipping method and cost, prior to the purchase being made.

For all transactions we suggest sellers ship their items immediately after payment is received in the seller’s bank account, or as per agreement with your buyer; but in no case later than seventy-two (72) hours.

To learn more about shipping options for buyers and sellers, see Getting Started for details.

What is Treasurebee’s return and refund policy?

Treasurebee is a platform for sellers of antiques, art, collectibles and other niche items that may have been previously owned.  Caution should be used when buying any used item as manufacturers warranties are long expired.

Sellers on Treasurebee are responsible for determining their own sales policies, including returns and refunds.  Please read the seller’s Profile and FAQ’s, or contact a seller to learn more about their policies.

Note:  When sellers issue a full refund on Treasurebee’s platform, the entire gross amount (the amount the buyer is charged) is returned to the buyer’s credit card, including Treasurebee’s processing fee and Stripe’s payment processing fee.  For partial refunds, the amount refunded comes from the net amount the seller receives, which excludes processing fees.  All refunds are final once they are completed.

Can I trade on Treasurebee?

Yes.  We encourage members making useful connections with each other.  Therefore trading is permitted as long as both members agree to it.
